We were building on
our house last year when Marty our tutor call me in to the room I was allocated in
for Gib fixing because the nailing pattern on our BL (Brace Line) wasn’t nailed properly at all four
corners of the Gib. Sake had nailed the nails on randomly. This only happen
because he had not come to class early that morning for the theory work.
So what we did to fix it was to rip down the
Gib because it was to damage to reuse and put up a new BL and re-nail it at the
right centers. According to the GIB EzyBrace SYSTEM book hand “All four corners of a bracing element must be
fastened with the fasteners required for that
element at 50mm, 100mm, and 150mm from the
edge of the sheet.
Bracing element perimeter fastening thereafter is
at
150mm centres.
Fasteners must be placed no closer than 12mm
from the paper enclosed factory edge and no closer
than 18mm from sheet ends
or cut edges of sheets”
